Video Volunteers community correspondent Shambhulal Khatik reports on the meagre wages on which Delwara, Rajasthan's ASHA workers work during times of COVID 19.
The Rajasthan government pays them Rs. 30 per day to carry out surveys of the general health of the population and to report any spread of COVID 19 infections.
The villages in which ASHA workers work were open to their movement before the spread of Coronavirus. Now they question them and ask them not to come near their houses.
In these extraordinary times, ASHA workers face issues of low wages and discrimination by the villagers.
They say that government teachers who are now doing the same work as they are paid many times more than them. Hence their wages should be increased as they are risking their lives working for the administration.
